How easy is it to fix my door mirror?

I have a 2015 Peugeot 3008 and the motor that folds the passenger door mirror on locking the vehicle has failed (it does a brief twitch) adjusting the mirror and heater element are fine. I've tried taking it to bits as much as I dare, even taken it off the door but can't seem to gain access to the motor and gearing. to be honest I'm anxious that I don't make matters worse!

My questions are: Is it reasonably easy to gain access and I'm being chicken and then buy spare parts? And what other vehicles use the same mirror so worse case scenario I can buy one second hand and widen my search?

Tackling repairs yourself is a good way to save money on maintaining your car, but it is important to be mindful of your own abilities and use professional help when required to avoid creating more problems which could end up costing you more money in the long run.

The Peugeot 3008 shares its door mirrors with the larger 5008 model as well as other Citroen models. We would suggest checking the part number for the complete unit with your local Peugeot dealer, as this will help you search for a replacement unit, so you can gauge the price of replacing the whole mirror against fixing the existing one. You could look online for guides or videos that explain how the mirror disassembles, so if you plan to tackle it yourself it's important to take your time, use a well-lit, clean area to carry out the work and take photos of the unit along the way to help you with reassembly.

Alternatively, with the mirror removed from the car you could contact a local independent Peugeot specialist for a quote to repair the unit, as you could take the mirror to them without needing to leave your car.
