Who should accept this claim?

Took delivery of 11 plate Navara via lease company in May 2011. It had approx. 300 miles on clock. Passenger door handle was sticking, causing door to fail to shut on first two attempts to close. Decided to live with problem until first service.

At first service, Arnold Clark Nissan, Perth, failed to investigate so when 4wd issue arose, took car to Nissan Dundee. Informed them of warranty issues. No mention from them of any charges.

On collection was presented with a bill of £36.72 for stripping and lubricating door handles. My wife paid bill on collection. I queried bill with service manager who agreed that it was unfair, but stated that Nissan do not pay warranty claims related to lubrication.

I have taken matter up with Nissan customer services, but they say that it is not a warranty issue and that I should have notified them of any fault as soon as it developed. Where do I stand?

Between you and the dealers that originally sold you the car. But because of the delay and the different dealers involved I don't see how you can resolve this unless one of them coughs up the money. A claim for £37.72 would be thrown out of court for wasting the court's time.
