best small car

Hi John , have you tested the latest corsa with 100 bhp, i do fancy the diesel but dpf put me off unless i go for the early versions, it supposed to have a longer top gear too? I like your review of the mazda 2 as well, other people say it is not as refined as rivals but you dnt say that in your review, Do you prefer the 1.3 ts2 to a yaris 1.3, or the corsa?, it looks on paper that the mazda produces its torque lower down the rev range which is what you want in the real world, Do you think mazda will ever give us the 1.5 engine with the longer fifth gear? thx jas

Yes, a Mazda2 is a bit more raw than a Fiesta, but is better on 195/45R16s than Fiestas are on 17" wheels with 40 profile tyres. The 1.3TS2 is the one to go for because its slightly longer geared than the 1.5 and is 114g/km CO2, so £30 tax. More fun to drive than a Yaris.
