Replacing a DSG automatic Octavia?

I have enjoyed my 2006 DSG Skoda Octavia (Elegance) but the ride is lumpy and the engine is quite noisy.

I do about 12k miles a year, mostly out of town and long trips, and would like a softer riding car with a comfortable interior.

My garage is a tight fit so the Octavia estate is about the biggest size I can fit in. I would be happy to return to petrol, if I could still have the mid-range acceleration necessary for safe overtaking on Scottish A roads. I have had no problems with DSG, once I learned how to use it properly, so any other automatic must work well.

Is it possible to combine the above with good fuel economy?

Could go to a Ford Focus 1.6i 125 Powershift estate. That's like a DSG with the bugs taken out. Or play safe with a bargain runout KIA cee'd or Hyundai i30 1.6 torque converter auto SW.
