Copping out?

I understand from very reliable sources (ex traffic police) that very few traffic police operate in the evening and especially weekends, with the number of convictions being very low. They have about three cars on patrol for the whole of Lancashire excluding the cities and the very large towns. They spend the majority of the time working week days, during the day 9am - 5pm and most of this is taken up with paperwork. They rely on electronic surveillance and speed bumps to do the policing. Having considered this information over the last few months, I have not seen any traffic police in the evening at weekends, so wonder if know this has any truth

Increasingly, traffic police are using unmarked cars, sometimes quite unusual ones. Surrey police have been using a black Mazda RX8, for example.
