How did an accident claims company get my details after my car broke down?

My car broke down (clutch problem) as I entered the M1 in Derbyshire. I let it roll to the barrier and waited there to be rescued which took only 20 minutes. I was then taken to a garage where arrangements were made for me and my car to be transported home. No trouble. I had informed my insurance company and of course the garage knew my name and had my details. Last week I had two telephone calls - one from John and one from Justin, both of them with strong foreign accents that were difficult to understand. However as soon as they said I could claim £3,500 for the accident, which I hadn’t had, I put down the phone. My telephone is ex-directory and my name does not appear on the electoral roll, so how did they get any information about me?

Because someone in the rescue company sold your details to them.
