Why can't I negotiate a discount on the list price of a new Audi A1?

I am thinking of ordering the new Audi A1 from my local Audi dealer. This would be a cash deal with no part exchange, but I am told there can be no negotiation on purchase price. Is this reasonable? There is no option on dealership, the next nearest Audi centre being an hour and a half away - too complicated for servicing etc. Your comments would be much appreciated.

Audi is adopting the attitude that it can make much more from selling its cars in Russia and China than in the UK, so if UK buyers don't want to pay full list they can forget about an Audi. Audi is also encouraging buyers to accessorise their cars, often to the tune of £10,000 - £20,000. Remember, Sterling is down more than 30 per cent against the Euro and down something like 50 per cent against the Chinese Yuan. The Germans don't actually need the UK market any more.
