Will I be able to get car finance in my 80s?
I am soon changing my 18 year old Nissan Note for something newer, either used or leased. I've found that many finance companies have a low age limit for borrowing. I'm 83, of sound mind with no blame accidents and I joined the IAM in 1964. Given this HP restriction would I have a leasing problem as well?

As a general rule there is no upper age limit for finance agreements, but lenders will assess risk and whether rightly or wrongly they will often decide that a finance agreement ending when the customer is in their late 80s as a greater risk than a younger person. However, a leasing agreement is more geared towards your financial circumstances, and your chances of securing a deal are better because the vehicle is essentially rented rather than entering an agreement that is designed with final ownership in mind. There are also a large number of leasing companies to choose from, so we would expect that with a little shopping around you will be able to find a good deal on a car that suits your needs.
