What should I replace my Evoque with?

I am currently driving a seven year old Evoque, I am hoping to change cars later this year. Living at the bottom of a valley, I do need 4x4 in winter, but also very much enjoy the ride quality the handling, and performance of the Evoque. It would of course be easiest to stick with what I know and like, but what would possibly be an alternative to consider?

Might I add, that I have never driven a BMW which I have actually liked, similar with Mercedes. I prefer petrol or diesel, automatic, good handling and performance, a decent amount of space for myself and my dog. Suggestions appreciated.

We would suggest looking at cars such as the Mazda CX-30. It is only offered with petrol engines, and in e-SkyActiv X form has a 2.0-litre engine with 186PS and all-wheel drive, and because it is based on the excellent Mazda 3 it also drives very well for an SUV. You may also wish to consider the MINI Countryman, which is available with ALL4 four wheel drive system for additional traction and a choice of 136PS, 178PS or 306PS turbocharged petrol engines. It's also good to drive and is decently practical for its size. You may also wish to consider choosing winter tyres over a car with four wheel drive - this should give you all the additional grip you need in the winter without the additional running costs of a four wheel drive system and would open up your vehicle choice to two wheel drive models.
