Our new car has an uncomfortable passenger seat, what can we do?
As we enjoyed our 16 reg Peugeot 308SW for 9 years we recently upgraded to the 2026 version. Stupidly we did not bother with a test drive and my creaky wife finds the new passenger seat very uncomfortable. So much so that we’re thinking of trading the car in for something in which she will be comfortable.
The main problem is that the new passenger seat seems significantly shorter front to back than that in the earlier car.
Is there a make of seat cushion which provides increases the front to back measurement? Or if we trade in, which cars in the 308SW’s price range have the best (biggest?) passenger seats?
Any other help you can suggest will be greatly appreciated please.

If you are otherwise happy with your 308 then trying a dedicated car seat cushion is the less expensive approach to solving this issue. We would suggest looking at products from brands such as ComfiLumba, who sell a cushion with a removable leg extender which should help achieve the correct cushion length.
If you do decide to change your vehicle, we would suggest looking at cars such as the Skoda Superb, Volvo V60/V90 and BMW 3 Series. Volvo has a long-standing reputation for seats with excellent support, and higher specification versions of these vehicles are often fitted with seats where the front edge is adjustable, so it can be extended or retracted to offer the required support. Visiting a car supermarket or large retailer would allow you the opportunity to sit in a wide variety of vehicles in one place and ensure the seating design suits your needs.
