The RAC damaged my car during recovery - what should I do?

Two RAC techs towed my car after clutch failed. One in their pick-up, the other in my car's driving seat with me as front passenger. Their tow rod failed resulting in my car shunting their pick-up. Who's responsible? The RAC have gone through my insurance rather than their own.

From the situation you have described it would seem that the technicians are entirely liable for the damage to your vehicle, so we would suggest contacting your insurer and explain that you believe they are 100% at fault and that the claim should be handled by the RAC's insurer. If you have not done so already we would suggest writing a letter of complaint to the RAC, including as much detail as possible such as your explanation of events and the names of the technicians responsible. You can also request a copy of the technician's report of the incident. If this is unsuccessful you may wish to take action via the small claims court.
