Am I liable for part exchanging a car that was previously modified before the sale?

I recently sold a car to a dealership and one of the questions was is the car modified and not standard. I said no as I was unaware it was modified and it is now been changed to the dealership on the V5. I have now been made aware it was modified after the sale so am I still liable for the car?

If you were unaware that the vehicle was modified before you sold it then it could be argued that is a reasonable defence, but that may not prevent the dealership from contacting you and claiming that the vehicle was not as described. Should they wish to take it further you may need to prove that you were unaware of the modifications.
