Should I be out of pocket because Autoglass didn't replace my windscreen correctly?

A stone cracked my windscreen so my insurance recommended Autoglass. Autoglass replaced the windscreen and said it was recalibrated. But while driving, five alerts appear on the dashboard - check lane safety system, check speed limit system, check HBA system, check inattentive driving warning system and one more. I took it back to Autoglass to recalibrate and they say it is a software problem that Kia must resolve.

I went to Kia, paid £300 for them to recalibrate but after three hours it is not resolved. They say Autoglass might not have fitted a genuine screen, it may not have the mounting brackets for the camera to hook onto, so the camera is off centre but it is not a software problem. What do I do now?

We would suggest going back to Autoglass in the first instance and ask them to confirm if the screen fitted is a genuine item or a non-original example. You may also wish to check the terms and conditions with Autoglass in respect of what specification glass they use as a replacement. If Kia insist that a genuine screen is required in order for the safety systems to operate correctly, then this is something that Autoglass should adhere to, so you may need to raise a formal complaint. However we would also expect the dealer to confirm if the screen is genuine or not, as suggesting it may not be genuine is not particularly helpful. Either way you should not be having to pay £300 when Autoglass are supposed to replace the windscreen and ensure it is done correctly. Which is clearly not the case.
