Should I be wary of Honda CR-V 1.6 diesel EGR issues?

I have seen a Honda CR-V EX priced well, in good nick and it already has a towbar fitted for caravan duties. But I'm aware that the mileage is around half the average for the year AND it's down for having a new EGR sensor fitted by the dealer prior to sale. This seems very early in its life to be having an EGR issue. I'm wary in case it has been a shopping trolley/school bus, the sensor is a sticking plaster and that further EGR/PFD issues may be looming. Oh and it's also having its throttle pedal changed. Buy anyway or run away? I would appreciate your thoughts. BTW, whatever I buy will be hammered up and down the country for work and pleasure, so should stay internally clean, clear and healthy. I just want to make sure I buy a good un to start with.

You don't mention the age or mileage of the vehicle, but assuming it is low mileage for its age then the EGR issue may be a result of frequent short journeys. If you plan to use the car for longer journeys on a regular basis then this should reduce the likelihood of experiencing DPF and EGR issues in the future, but there are no guarantees - a more detailed inspection of the engine would be required to determine its current condition. Whether it is worth the risk or not is a matter of balancing its condition and price against other examples for sale. A higher mileage example that has been used for longer journeys may be in better health, but if this example has been maintained well throughout its life then it has the potential to be more reliable when used regularly.
