What automatic car is comfortable enough for someone with spinal problems?

I have spinal problems resulting in lower back and leg pain. My consultant says I should be driving an automatic and something with a comfortable ride. I have a budget of £20k and my annual milage is around 5k and it is mostly around town. Any suggestions?

It would depend on the shape of vehicle you're after. A previous-generation Mercedes E-Class will be extremely comfortable and all are automatics, but if you're mostly driving around town, you may find it a pain to park.
