Damage due to potholes

I was travelling in Cumbria down the Kirkstone Pass out of Winderemere and hit a large pothole (3/4 foot long and up to 3 inches deep).

There was an enourmous noise in the cabin of my Jaguar XF that resulted in one blown front tyre and an egg shape bulge in the rear tyre. I was recovered off the pass by the AA. I have had the tyres replaced under insurance I took out at the time of buying the car although some wheel alignment checks will not be recoverable. I have taken pictures of the pothole and tyre damage.

My questions are: Should I have the car checked further? How do I recover any costs that I have/might incur as a result of the pothole?

Yes, have the car checked further.

You need to report the precise locaiton of the pothole on www.potholes.co.uk and www.fixmystreet.co.uk

If, in doing so, you find that the pothole was previous reported and not repaired you have a case against the council.

If not, effectively, you don't.
