I was sold the wrong model

I bought what I thought was an 09-plate Audi A3 Sportback 2.0 TDI quattro Sport model in September from an Audi dealer on the Approved Audi scheme. It cost £20,700.

A different dealer has just been doing some warranty work, and they enquired as to whether I realised it is actually an SE model not a sport - I did not!

What legal rights do I have, and what might I reasonably expect the garage to do?

I have emails directly answering the 'is it a sport?' question from pre-purchase stating that it is, and emails confirming the model.

I also have the approved 'folder' you get where the dealership manager filled out the car details in front of me saying it is a Sport.

However, when I go to the back of the folder there are mileage check certificates saying it is an SE, and my local garage say the Audi system shows it as an SE. Standard numberplate checks also do this.

I feel that they deliberately lied, but I'm not sure what I can do. I'm currently waiting for an initial response back after I told them I realised this. I recognise I should have been quicker in noticing, but you don't expect garages to lie like this.

You're better off with an SE anyway, because of the deeper profile tyres and more comfortable suspension. Used examples are not booked, but Glass's Guide shows current list prices of the Sport and the SE as the same, at £23,790.
