What car should I choose for reliability and comfort over long distances?

I’ve had few cars over the years and am currently running a Subaru Outback 3.0-litre at 142k. 25 mpg and top rate VED with inevitable big bills ahead - do I stick or twist?

We do 30k plus a year, rural hills and long motorway to family around the country. I want a car that will “last me out, something comfortable and economical with some power. With up to £15k I am considering Skoda Superb 2.0 diesel or BMW 530d - but concerned re reliability - any advice appreciated.

We think that the Skoda Superb is an ideal choice for your needs, as it offers impressive comfort over long distances and good fuel consumption when fitted with a diesel engine. The Superb also has a good reliability record, so we would expect you to encounter few problems if you find a good example.

The BMW 530d is also an excellent choice, although you may find it is slightly more expensive to maintain than the Skoda.
