Which new low insurance group/ 4x4 car?

Looking for two vehicles, one small and in the lowest insurance category, to add 18-year-old provisional driver. I also need to replace Honda CR-V executive at end of year with a 4x4.

I'm not badge conscious so looking for a good value used car with leather seats, sat nav, etc.

Something smaller than CR-V would be considered.

Citroen C1, Peugeot 107. Toyota Aygo, FIAT Panda Active 1.1, Nissan Pixo, Suzuki Alto.

Hard to beat a CR-V, but they are getting expensive.

If you don't need four wheel drive, consider a Hyundai ix35 or KIA Sportage 1.7 diesel.

If you do need 4WD and want to go smaller, a Nissan Juke 1.6 DiG CVT.

If you do need 4WD, the best SUV of the lot is the BMW F25 X3, but they start at £31,000 after which everything (including leather) is extra.
