Small city car, which is best?

Looking to replace our second car (2004 Nissan Almera) with a neat city car. Both the Panda and Aygo have received good reviews by reviewers and owners. Out of the two, which would you recommend as the better buy? Costs are not an issue and we like the functional looks of the Panda, but also the clever fresh design and reliability of the Aygo.

There's a bigger choice than that:

Citroen C1, Peugeot 107, Toyota Aygo (same car). Problems have emerged. See car-by-car reviews.

Nissan Pixo, Suzuki Alto (same car)

KIA Picanto (new one arriving in the summer)

Hyundai i10

FIAT Panda

FIAT 500
