Minor gap

I am buying a 2007 Citroen Xsara Picasso with 19K miles for £8,250. The Citroen dealer suggests I take out a GAP insurance policy to cover the potential loss of value if the car is written off in the next three year because I will just get a "market value" settlement from my motor insurer, rather than the £8,250 back. The premium is
£379. Presumably the garage will get a chunk of commission. Is this worth having and if so should I shop around for a cheaper quote? Also, the salesman suggests I have a "Diamondbrite" protection coating to the inside and outside. Any thoughts on this? It costs £220. However, if I decide to have both items, the joint cost is £299.

The joint cost of £299 starts to look like a fair price. Broker bought, GAP insurance would be about £100. And, if its properly applied and guaranteed, Diamondbrite is worth £200.
