Cromalogical order

I have had many trouble-free years driving Fiats, my current car being a Croma 2.2 auto (a superb car in most respects). However, it has recently developed an annoying "intermittent fault" in that the alarm will sound off soon after parking. Sometimes immediately, usually after about ten minutes, sometimes hours later. It has twice been checked by the local Fiat dealer who can find no fault? They offer to take the car in for a week in effort to trace the "gremlin" as they put it. Via Fiat UK I have spoken to other dealers who can only offer the same service. All very frustrating. Any ideas please?

Possibly an over-sensitive volumetric sensor. Try switching the vents to recirculate, turn the heater to max, shut all closable cabin vents, point directional vents at the floor before leaving the car. If that doesn't work, it might be a spider coming out when the car is vacated and crawling over the sensor.
