Can I run four tyres with different speed ratings?

Yesterday I fitted four new CrossClimate tyres to my Volkswagen Golf SV. The original tyres were rated at H. The fitter had fitted three H and one V rated tyre. Today, the tyre alarm went off after 30 miles saying that the REAR RIGHT TYRE REQUIRED CHECKING. This was the V rated tyre. Is this safe to run?

We don't advise running 3 tyres with one speed (H) rating and 1 with a different speed rating (V). If you do choose a tyre with a higher speed rating, retailers like Black Circles recommend that you match the tyres across the axels, avoiding having different speed ratings fitted on either side of the car. I'd advise getting the V rated tyre swapped with a H. If you aren't sure, the recommendations can be found in the car's handbook.

Alternatively, it could be an issue with the fitting as you just had it done. I'd go back to the garage and speak to them.
