Scrapping a living

My father in law, who is now 84, drives a twenty-year-old Renault 5 which he is planning to use in the newly announced government scrappage scheme. He wants to replace it with a new car that must be easy to get in and out of, should ideally be automatic and can be either petrol or diesel powered. Nowadays he only drives short distances so a small engine would be fine. I wonder if a Nissan Note would fit the bill? I will be very grateful for any ideas or suggestions you may have.

Yes. But a Suzuki Splash 1.2 auto or Vauxhall Agila 1.2 auto might be better. Even smaller, a Hyundai i10 1.2 auto or KIA Picanto auto.
