What happens if my car with a personalised numberplate is stolen?

If my car with a valuable personalised numberplate is stolen, am I able to retain title to the personalised registration number? If not, do I need to take out separate insurance?

Yes, you can apply to retain the number. You've got two years and a half years to notify the DVLA but you must have called the police to report the theft and the car must have had tax and a valid MoT when it was stolen.
