I have lived in Hong Kong for the last 18 years and, of course, hold an HK driving licence. I still have a UK driving licence of the green paper variety, which states that it is valid until my 70th birthday in 2023. It is registered to my UK address, which I retain and occasionally visit, though I am officially non-domiciled in the UK. Is this licence in fact still valid and will it remain so for the stated period? If, when visiting the UK, I acquire a speeding ticket, am I obliged to declare this UK licence or should I rely on my Hong Kong licence?

Not to the letter of the law, though if you still own the property of the address on the licence, probably okay because you can be reached through it. They can endorse the UK licence for speeding ‘offences’, but cannot endorse the Hong Kong licence. More at www.dvla.gov.uk or www.direct.gov.uk
