Junktion 12

After sitting in yet another queue on the M25 trying to join the M3 southbound last night I remembered you mentioning that the new layout was being trialled to improve traffic congestion. I think that I spend more time stationary now than I ever did before. Please can you explain how it was meant to work and what improvements you believe it gives me the driver?

The trial layout actually favours traffic joining the M3 southbound from
both directions of the M25 over traffic already on the M3. The jams are caused by yet more roadworks further south on the M3 around Junction 3. This is a nightmare because it’s very difficult to find the alternative A30 from the M25, and the A30 is very slow.

Surely on a slip road one should give way to a lane they want to enter? Braking for a vehicle wanting to join could cause an accident. One has to be aware what is legal as well as sensible.
