Raw ride
I presently have a 320i BMW Sport Touring, which I bought new in March 04. My wife is finding the ride rather hard now and also the low entry a little difficult. We do have a dog and tow a caravan (MTPLM 1,325kg). A Honda CR-V 2.0i VTEC EX has been suggested but I would like a car (estate) that is exciting to drive like the BMW. Am I asking too much or can you suggest an alternative? My budget is £20,000 to £25,000.

“Comfort” and “excitement” don't fit together very well. The CR-V is very comfortable indeed (and will calm down your driving). A RAV-4 T180 is more grunty. A Ford Kuga 2.0TDCI has more sporty handling, and is heavily discounted at the moment. The new Audi Q5 or Volvo XC60 would do the job but are a little over budget. Or consider a pre TD4e Freelander II, being sold off at big discounts.
Dear Honest John,
