Picks and shovers

Do you know if there are any New models of crewcab/5 seat pickups due out this year? Surely a facelifted Navara can't be too far away? Also, how do you rate the Ford Thunder 2.5 auto diesel? I test-drove a Hi-Lux some time ago, but felt seasick within 10 minutes of driving it down the M1. Am I right in saying all these vehicles now suffer from £400pa VED?

Most are built in Thailand, and it now costs 40% more to buy anything in Thai baht than it did a year ago. The oldest current pick-up is the Isuzu D-Max/Rodeo that dates back to 2002/03, but it was facelifted in 2007 (my wife bought one for her dad, I'm still paying for it). The D-Max based Chevy Colorado was also facelifted late 2007. The Mazda BT50 and Ford Ranger were re-facelifted last year. Test of the 2.5 manual and 3.0 auto at www.honestjohn,co.uk The Navara gets Renault/Nissan's new 3.0 235PS diesel this year. The L200 was launched in 2005. The Hilux Vigo in 2004. No, not £400 VED. EU4 and EU5 pick-ups are £125 tax a year. Others £185 a year.
