Is there a definitive answer to BMWs auto gearbox 'sealed for life' conundrum? I have trawled the internet, including your hallowed pages, but there still seems to be some doubt whether to change the oil/torque converter fluid, or to leave well alone. I have recently purchased a Touring 2.8 SE automatic, which now has 80,000 miles on the clock, and hope to keep it for some time.

It has to be pumped out and replaced at a very specific pressure and
temperature otherwise damage will occur. That is why some independent dealers warn against changing the fluid. Take advice from a member of www.fedauto.co.uk who will do it correctly.
