A humping we will go

I have just finished reading the article "Green Mean & Clean" by Judith Woods and it occurred to me that the Millbrook Proving Ground could be used to demonstrate the effect that the ubiquitous speed bumps have on emissions and mpg. Judith says that Millbrook features driving conditions typical of Britain's roads, including potholes, but no mention of speed bumps, so perhaps a campaign to organise this sort of testing would get the attention of the blinkered Local Authorities who continue to force these monstrosities on us all.

Millbrook has a 'city' section with speed humps but they are not
regulation speed humps and it has no speed cushions. These could be added at minimal cost. Certainly a lot less than the rate at which most taxpayers pay for them. I have also been talking to DEKRA about the possibility of tyre testing UK spec speed cushions.
