Ealing comedy

I live in the London Borough Of Ealing and received a parking ticket for parking my motorbike on the pavement against a big U shaped bracket for locking bikes to, whilst I went into the bank. I received a ticket and asked the council where motorbikes are supposed to park as the whole area is residents parking or pay and display bays. I was informed motorbikes can park free on 'Pay and Display' bays and in the resident bays. I asked why the parking signs don’t say this, as they do in other neighbouring London Boroughs: Hounslow for example. After many phone calls and e-mails, I was told this was explained in a leaflet sent to all Ealing residents when controlled parking was introduced some years earlier. Isn't this unfair to motorcyclists coming to Ealing who live in other boroughs who won't have recieved the leaflet? I cannot get any answer as to why Ealing council don't have signs which are clear regarding motorcycles as most other local councils do.

It's completely ridiculous and could be considered entrapment because you parked your bike at a place specifically designed for bikes to be parked and shackled. A reasonable man would simply avail himself of this facility and would have no idea that parking at a place specifically designed for motorcycle parking would have been declared illegal. Take advice from www.appealnow.com , but I think you would have a good small claims track case to sue for your 'fine' to be returned + court costs.
