Should I buy a hybrid now or wait a few years and go for an EV?

I am considering purchasing a new Toyota Corolla Hybrid (and part exchanging my two year old Auris Hybrid). Given the improved range of EVs just coming on the market having 200-mile plus range (which would be plenty more than I need) I wondered whether waiting another year or two would be better economically for future trade-in values if EVs become significantly cheaper to own through Government policy pushing?

EVs are still niche vehicles and I don't think that's going to change dramatically in the near future. For many, hybrids represent the perfect halfway house, and I suspect second-hand values will reflect this for a while yet. Very efficient hybrid hatch with surprisingly upmarket interior. Good to drive, too, while standard equipment levels are generous.
