What's a good small car for £6000?

My son needs a replacement for this Peugeot 107 automatic. What would be a good replacement? We have up to £6000 available.

Take a look at the Kia Picanto - they're cheap to run and the four-speed torque converter gearbox is robust. The Toyota Aygo with its semi-automatic gearbox is also worth a look.
