Superb, reliable long hauler

I live in Switzerland am am a weekly commuter, do 2500 Km / 1600 miles a month, 95% motorway, crossing the alps.
Bought the car at 26'000 km (16k+ miles) and arrived to 250'000km (160k miles) almost faultless (just niggles). I sold it for a more recent, almost equal one with more safety features now common (ACC, dead angle etc), which I recommend, this car was good 5 years in advance for the time and they work well.
Pleasant to drive, comfortable, never back pain in stretches of up to 3/400 km per leg. Could do 4 hrs driving with minor fatigue and am no sport guy, at all.
Good "tank" sense on the road, better than a VW Passat, grippy also in winter despite FWD only. the engine is old fashioned but charming sounding and perfectly functional, silent at cruise, 40 mpg normal, used to hit reserve between 970 to 1020 km depending on use, season etc.
