Comfy and roomy cruiser.

Bought used from a Volvo dealer with 40k miles. I’d had a previous version V60 for 6 years and the V90 is a huge upgrade on that. It’s so comfortable and relaxing to drive it sort of magically removes driving stress and long distances are a breeze - I took it to the south of France last summer and it was a joy - it returned 59mpg for the entire journey. The engine is powerful enough and the handling tight enough but it’s not a “drivers” car it’s a cruiser, but a very good one.
I’ve switched off some of the tech however. The lane assist is frankly annoying and the stop start is weird - far too quick to activate. The auto handbrake feature that activates whenever the car comes to a standstill can also be annoying and again activates too quickly - it’s a pain trying to manoeuvre in car parks etc. with the brake activating after every small move.
These aren’t issues really as I’ve just switched them off. However some of the reliability gremlins are. After 6 years problem free with a V60 I suddenly find myself a regular at the dealer. Within 7 months the indicator switch gear developed a fault, a rear light unit failed and the electronic hand brake wiring has fractured (ironically leaving me with no hand brake). All fixed under warranty but a worrying pattern of faults that are reported as “common issues” on owners forums and a warranty only lasts so long.
I bought it with a view to keep it long term and if the reliability issues settle down that will hopefully be the case as I really do like the car and it’s perfect for my needs.
