Do not let the low price put you off

Our Myvi is three and a half years old, has done 35,000, and has not had a single fault.

It may be small on the outside, but its interior space is better than many "bigger" cars. My sitting hight is tall, and I appreciate having plenty of headroom ~ I have driven cars like the Focus and have my head pushing against the roof lining. The rear seat folds flat to the floor, the rear door is square without a lip, and the interior walls are straight ~ this allows the the movement of huge amounts of junk. The flat rear, and no lip allow easy entry and exit, and a comfortable ride for two very large dogs. We needed the wide opening doors and plenty of rear leg room, so that we could get the elderly in-laws in. Further, the car is a five seater, and is usable as such. We find the car very comfortable; four adults once did 338 miles virtually non-stop going to Scotland, and were still in comfortable when we arrived.

The fuel consumption is between 48 and 49 mpg, which is only ok for a modern super-mini, but I would put the Myvi in the size class above because of its interior space, and flexibility.

There is not a dealer near where we live, but our local garage can get the parts, service sheets etc. without any warranty issues. There have been no faults in 35,000 miles, but the car has been vandalized a couple of times - new wing mirrors were supplied quickly by Perodua UK, and were reasonable in price when compared to what a wing mirror for my Rover 25 cost several years ago. The local MG garage which services our Myvi states that it seems very "solidly" put together.

There is more information about living with a Myvi on our blog, search Myvi Magic.

Overall, we feel the Myvi could well be the best value for money car on the road ~ do not be put off by the unfamiliar name, and the low price.
