Citroen ZX (1992 - 1998) - 98 1.9D ZX Diesel exhaust fumes when window open

98 1.9D ZX Diesel exhaust fumes when window open - ZX Cheltenham
Just bought a ZX 1.9 diesel (non turbo) with 81k on the clock.

The engine runs beautifully and the temperature gauge shows engine operating at correct temperature.

Whenever I open the window(s) at 30mph or more I get a strong smell of diesel exhaust fumes come into the cabin.

I had an exhaust check done and it's fine (exhaust is quite new aswell.)

My guess is that my bootlid seal could be faulty and opening the window could create a "vacuum" that draws in the 'swirl' of exhaust from the back of the car.

Has anyone else had a similar experience?
