Do I need to replace my lost driver’s licence?

I’ve lost my driver’s licence which I renewed in April and, as I’m now 73, will need to be renewed again in 2026. As all my details are on the DVLA website, is it a legal requirement to apply for a replacement (eg in the event that I may be required to produce it to the police)?

We would strongly recommend replacing your driving licence as soon as possible, as you point out you may be required to produce it by the police. A replacement costs £20 and you can apply for a replacement online here: www.gov.uk/apply-online-to-replace-a-driving-licen...e
