Ask me nicely cos i can buy the car at cost from my next door neighbour Rover dealership - what do you fancy?
|
I would have thought Rover cars only in Dealership showroom stock are the only cars available.
The others stocked in the factory or importer compounds awaiting sales/delivery would be held by the recievers, therefore are not for sale at present.
|
Our dealer has bought and paid for 200 cars but there is a good proportion of these still in compounds. Despite them actually being paid for they are not yet releasing the vehicle to them.

Well, i'm I have no idea. I had a look at the car lot of a MG-Rover dealer this evening while I was waiting for someone (this ones about 15 miles from Longbridge), cheapest car was a Y reg Rover 25, marked up at £4995.
Any wonder why they can't sell cars........
|
Forgot to add that they had new City Rover's(not really a Rover is it) at £3995.

Sadly, because new ranges were needed apart from the (excellent) 75 as the smaller models have been around for a long time; in fact the Honda based flat roofed 216 and 416 originally came out in 1989.
Another key factor was that Rover, for some considerable time in the 1990s, sought to sell its Escort/Golf class sized models at Mondeo class prices - most car buyers were too canny to fall for it, especially if they could get a bigger car for similar or less money.

Rover isn't in receivership, it's in administration.
In my understanding the difference is that in administration they try to find if there's a way to keep the business running, where as in receivership the business is simply ripped apart and it's assets sold off to reduce the losses. This is why they haven't laid-off the workers yet, and with this in mind I would think completed cars would indeed be leaving (or have left) the factory for sale..

I'm sure you are right about it being in administration rather than receivership, but I doubt completed cars are leaving the fcatory when the suppliers had already pulled out

Car transporter companies are not going to haul Rover cars around the country until their bills are paid and cash is shown up front!
|
talked to a dealer i meet with a collegue today at auction, he is nocking down his 25's by 500 quid, and will consider larger discounts if people enter his showroom with cash.
so far he is honouring warrantys, no issue about that yet.
he think rover are finished, although mg tf could contiune as a small independent company for another 3 years or so.
any how, if anyone sees rovers cheap please post here. (and yes i said rovers not tatas).
out of interset - he is prepared to let brand new rover city sprite or spirit (not sure which model name) at £4500. he reckons rover have at least another 1,000 city rovers pilled up somewhere.
whop would buy one - their will be no parts available at all for this!

Dealers still holding out for high prices!

If you intend on buying a new Rover then pay with a UK credit card even if you intend getting a loan as the credit card (not debit card) company becomes jointly liable for the product if the purchase in above £100 and under about £25k I think.
PAy off the credit card asap to avoid high interest rates.

sounds good, but is the card issuer still jointly liable once the balance has been paid off?

I think so.
I am also lead to belive that you only need to pay a proportion above £100 on the card for them to be jointly liable.
Relates to UK purchases only.
|
Yep, IIRC you need only pay £100 or above with a credit card to gain this extra protection. Well worth it in this case I'd have thought.
