Fiat 500 engine options

I'm looking to buy a fiat 500 but torn between the 1.2 or 0.9 twin air engines - which would you recommend? If going for a 1.2 is there any way of knowing whether the engine is one of the problematic eu6 ones? I'm looking for something a couple of years old if that makes any difference.

The TwinAir is lively and fun and capable of 50mpg if you take it easy but will only do 35mpg if you rag it. The 1,242cc 4 cylinder engine lacks power and fun and the EU6 version seriously lacks low end torque, but is more likely to average 50mpg than the TwinAir. Both work best on Shell V-Power Nitro Plus petrol. A 2 year old will not be EU6.
