Buying new small car

I am looking to downsize my Focus automatic and normally I would be looking at the likes of a Fiesta or Jazz. However, I am of an age when this could be my last car and I am tempted to buy a new premium badged vehicle and rather like the look of the Audi A1 automatic. I have read your review and wonder if the possible fault with electrolysis in the gearbox has been rectified and if not how much weight should I place on this happening?
I look forward to receiving your comments and any suggestions.

That has been fixed by switching the oil from synthetic to mineral. But there is a new A1 on the way. Might be adopting VAG's MQB component sharing subframes, like the new Skoda Fabia. Might not. Testing first week of December.
