Do all insurance companies give discounts for fitting winter tyres?

I renewed my car insurance automatically in mid-October without speaking to my insurance company, Toyota Insurance. I phoned them three weeks later to say that I would be fitting winter tyres again this winter and was informed they give a 5 per cent discount to drivers who do this. The adviser kindly offered to refund the 5 per cent to me, but I got the impression I was lucky to get the rebate as winter tyres had not been discussed at the renewal stage. It wouldn't have crossed my mind - much less if I'd been renewing my insurance in summer.

That's fantastic, because last year some brain dead insurers were charging a premium for fitting winter tyres. You have a very sensible insurer. Mercedes-Benz Insurance also offers a five per cent discount for fitting winter tyres.
