Cooped up

I have a MINI Cooper D auto, which is a great little car and lots of fun. However, to be practical, I really need something not quite so mini and a softer ride for the Suffolk lanes on which it is used. I would like to keep with a diesel automatic and I am wondering what car you would suggest. Price is not a problem but I should like something a bit out of the ordinary. Thanks for your advice.

First thing, you won't have lost much. MINI Cooper diesels hang on to their value better than anything else. DO NOT BE PERSUADED OTHERWISE. The obvious step up is a MINI Cooper Clubman Diesel auto on 15" wheels with deeper profile tyres and non 'Sport' suspension to give it a softer ride. Otherwise it’s a matter of looking at a Peugeot 207SW, with the same engine.
