• Ford Mondeo, - Best Used Family Car to buy 9 Oct 2013 (Forum)
  Hi Guys  New to this forum, not the site. I am looking to buy a large family car, and have max £7000 Was looking at the Ford Mondeo and test drove a 08 Diesel Hatchback, 80,000 miles titanium, but the price was £7000 and thought it was a little high for the mileage.   What is the best family car to look at buying Thanks for your help Neil

  My C-Max has a acceleration flat spot that occurs around 1700/1900 rpm. I understand that this is a common problem, but my Ford garage cannot find it ( no fault code on diagnostic computer). Has anyone had this problem, if so what was the cause, how was it cured and by whom ?.

  I diagnosed an ECU failure, the man who came to collect the car to take to the garage stated "its computers gone, its not going anywhere". I have had a similar fault on a high milage Merc Sprinter van (312000 miles). The local Ford agents have said that the EGR valve (exhaust gas recirculation valve) is at fault. When I took the van to the Merc dealer they said that the EGR valve had gone, they changed it and it made no difference, they then changed the injector pump, it made no difference, they then changed the ECU, success but only with bills for £3261.00 Happily Merc paid for a goodly whack of this.

   I'm 6'6" tall unfortunately which has lead to problems as even large SUV/Crossovers don't seem that much bigger inside than smaller models (the car grows but not the space for the driver). We didn't initially fancy an MPV but I sat in a Ford S-Max yesterday and it did seem more roomy and comfortable and the visibility was a lot better than the Cross/SUVs we tried (Mazda CX-5, Qashqai, VW Touareg, Ford Kuga etc).  Is this the best of the MPV bunch for comfort and space?

  I took my Ford Focus into the Ford garage yesterday to have the rocker cover gasket repaired as it had a slight leak. They also topped up my engine oil and coolant. When I checked the oil level first thing this morning (before running the engine), on level ground, it was slightly above the max notch by about 2 to 3 mm.

  Good evening everyone just brought a band new Ford Focus zetec s year of the car is 2013 and I have had nothing but trouble with it first of all it was miss firing all the time so fords put on a new coil pack still no joy still did not solve the problem then they put in a new wireing loom still did not solve the problem now they say they have got to renew the pcm on the car what a joke this is has any one else had any trouble with there zetec s ????

  We have to buy an automatic as my partner has an automatic licence. All the models we've seen so far have a dual clutch. In the HJ review it noted the 2015-16 dual clutches were to be avoided, but does this mean issues with them have been resolved in the later models?   Hi All, I am new here, so hello to everyone :-) I have been considering buying a 2002 FORD Mondeo 2.0TDCi 130 Zetec S.     Last month the coolant started leaking and recently BMW found the thermostat + thermostat housing was at fault. This was replaced by BMW and the coolant level on the day was topped up to max. It has only been a week since all this and already the coolant level has dropped to minimum! There is no obvious signs of a leak and there is no coolant leak on the floor (as there was originally with the leak before the thermostat was replaced).
