Big rise in money-saving ‘black box’ insurance policies 15 Mar 2016 (News)
That’s according to the latest annual research by the British Insurance Brokers Association (BIBA), who asked 30 telematics companies how many active policies they have. There are 455,000 currently, compared to 323,000 at the beginning of 2015. The so-called ‘black box’ policies require a driver to fit telematics to their car, which can monitor driving habits including speed, frequency of travel, distance of travel, and even cornering velocity. -

Paris set to ban old cars? 14 Nov 2012 (News)
The mayor has said it's part of a 'progressively and in a concerted manner' to ban all lorries from Paris. The next phase in the programme will be turning Paris into a Low Emission Zone by 2015. Although the radical vehicle policy is intended to rid the city of poorly maintained old bangers, no exemption for cherished classics has been spoken of yet. These schemes, which are now in place in Germany and Italy allow certain classic cars into Low Emissions Zones as long as they meet cherished use criteria. -

GM offers from three years or 36,000 miles on Chevrolets to five years or 60,000 miles on Oldsmobiles. Ford offers from three years or 36,000 miles on Fords to four years or 50,000 miles on Mercurys and Lincolns. The longest Stateside warranties are ten years or 100,000 miles offered by Hyundai and KIA, but these revert to five years or 60,000 miles if the car is re-sold. -
April Figures Show Winners and Losers 10 May 2001 (News)
So far this year 424,895 cars have been registered to private buyers 353,879 to fleets and 76,305 to business users, an increase of 19.4% to private buyers and making the ratio private to fleet and business sales 50/50 compared to 25/75 just a few years ago. The Ford Focus was the most popular model, closely followed by the Ford Mondeo. Manufacturers and importers who have seen significant sales increases this year to date include: Alfa Romeo, Audi, Chrysler, Citroen, FIAT, Ford, Jaguar, Land Rover, Nissan, Perodua, Peugeot, Porsche, Proton, Renault, SAAB, SEAT, Skoda, Suzuki, Toyota, and Volkswagen.
