  Have had a fuel leak around the fuel filter, have replaced the fuel filter but that does not seem to have helped any ideas guys ???

  I have a diesel engine. I have noticed that the fuel line from the fuel tank to the engine (going through the fuel filter) every morning (or after a few hours sitting) no longer has fuel in it, and won't start, it just keeps trying to start but not catching (becuase there is no fuel in the engine).

  My guess is that the fuel regulator when cold, shuts off the flow to the fuel heater circuit. As the coolant temperature rises, it opens the fuel heater circuit gradually mixing the colder fuel with the hot fuel (rather like a mixer tap).

  The fueling noozle  starts clicking as well if try to fill at normal speed. Can you change the fuelling system or do we need to stick it on diagnostics as someone said it may be due to a previous theft of fuel from vehicle and them removing easy fuel cap.

  Just wondering have i managed to get air into the system ? if so how do you bleed the fuel system ? or is their a fuel solenoid somewhere between the tank and fuel rack ?? Any help is very much appreciated, Gaz O.

    Could the independent have caused the problem (not installed the fuel filter correctly and the pump having to work too hard to circulate the fuel?).  Could "replacement of fuel pump" be a lazy diagnosis?  Is the fuel pump failing a known fault in the Honda diesel system?

  is there an issue with the fuel system?, my56 reg car has what seems like fuel pump failure with only 79,000 miles first signs were longer  turnover on startup but not  in mornings and only spasmodicly, then ihad some start failures which rac thought was sticky fuel pump in tank, later found there is no fuel pump in tank, now has no apparent fuel through system,so fuel pump?

  I occasionally treat the uberwagen to a tankful of 'premium' fuel in the probably mistaken belief that it will spring clean the injectors and 'do the engine good'. (I have previously proved that the percentage better fuel consumption is considerably less than the percentage increase in price from 'regular'  RON 95 fuel).

  I have to prime fuel into the car before it will start, once it started its OK, on the hoses that go into the engine I can see bubbles proir to priming (hand pumb) fuel into the pipes. I took the car to a specialised, he replace the fuel filter, replace the fuel pipes and primer, checked the fuel tank and pipes - but the problem is still there - he seems very baffled by it.

  My Laguna comes up with Injection fault everytime the fuel gauge reaches the top of the red section of the fuel gauge when the fuel is getting low. When the fuel is above this the car goes great without any problems which leads me to think that there is nothing wrong with the injectors and that there must be some other fault causing this.

  Now I've started having problems filling the car with fuel (the petrol fuel pump clicks off, at alot of different petrol stations), now I know that it sounds like  its a full tank and problems with the fuel gauge, I may have lost count of how much fuel I have put in, but I can assure you that this is not the case I believe there is about 1/4 of a tank in there.

  im not getting any fuel being sent by the fuel pump. has anyone got any suggestion as to how best diagnos this problem? i cant hear any noises from the fuel pump, when ignition is turned on. on this particular model its up to the fuel pump to pressurise the system and thats not happening. all suggestions most welcome.

  hi,this stilo is driving me mad!..diagnosis..needs new high pressure fuel pump..bought one same problem.no fuel coming out of pump.ihad old pump off car,spun the pump sprocket,a jet of fuel came out.the replacement one done the same.but, fit it to the car,nothing..not even a drip comes out..took off fuel feed hose from filter to pump ,switched on ign,a fountain of fuel comes out.so fuel is going into pump but why is it not coming out....does anyone have a clue ?..

  There are all sorts of claims that Shell fuel gives 5-10% more miles than generic supermarket. Given that fuel is sold by volume (litres), I presume there must be some quantifiable difference in these fuels in terms of density or energy content?
