  My VW Tiguan has had a DMF collapse after only 52,000 miles.  This seems a little premature?  Are there any known issues with the AutoHold function causing premature failure of the DMF?

  I've spotted a manual C-Max 2.0 petrol with just under 50k on the clock which I rather like, but from what I've read on HJ's car-by-car breakdown, these engines are fitted with a DMF. Does anybody know if these petrol engines more or less reliable than the diesels with a DMF fitted (not just the Ford diesels)?  How do they compare in terms of reliability?  I haven't come across many tales of petrol engines failing due to DMF problems so I'd be interested in anyone's thoughts or experiences with petrol engines fitted with a DMF.

  The clutch needs to be replaced. Quotes taken - 1 garage says there isn't a DMF & one says the car does. I just need to know which is correct. If it does have a DMF I'll change both - just need to know if I need to start saving! Thanks.

  The garage has advised that the DMF needs replacing but they hadn't seen one on a petrol car, is this right and are there any chepaer alternatives. If I go ahead with the DMF, is there anything else I need to check has been changed at the same time?

    Given the current trend for stop/start technology to reduce emissions, could this have a negative impact on DMF life?  i know that starter motors, batteries etc are beefed up to take account of the stop/start facility, but i doubt whether anybody has started fitting a more robust DMF.  Thoughts...?

  hi to all good news for ford tdci ownersi have discovered that you can buy a dmf conversion for your tdci enginesthey retail at around £240 cash n carry this gets rid of the dmf and converts it to standard three piece clutch (old skool)hope this is helpful to you all

  the dmf on my mondeo is rattling like a bag of epileptic spanners, i took it to the garage to get it confirmed (which it was) but when it was plugged in to diagnostics it was showing a turbo fault code. The turbo was rebuilt in october 2014 and the actuator repaired in april 2015, the question is would a knackered dmf trigger a turbo fault code or is my turbo knackered again.

  So it make me wonder if I took off from Peugeot 406 2.0HDI with 90bhp which has got a solid flywheel and swap to my Citroen C5 to stop get other problem in the future.  What is advantage and disadvantage of Solid and DMF? Performance: better or worse if I have solid over DMF? Noise: same noise with solid over DMF Engine vibrate and drove off from start: DMF smooth than solid? My 306 was smooth which is have a solid flywheel Gear change and clutch feel: Solid feel light and easy to change the gears than DMF?

  A customer brought in a Shogun with no drive six months ago. I renewed the dmf and clutch with genuine oe parts. It went away fine but returned two months later showing signs of iminent dmf failure. I replaced it all again and thinking that the parts must have been at fault. Another two months down the line and the same thing is happening.

  I have a citroen, that make a vibration at startup, and engine off. Everything else, driving, gearchange, etc is fine. Could this be a sign of DMF failure. i.e when engine is up to idle speed all is ok, but there is a vibration as the engine is below idle (i.e startup / switch off). Does the DMF rotate all the time when the engine is running, or only when the clutch is engaged?

  mt dmf has failed and i have been told that it is possable to fit a solid one but speaking to ford they say not has any one fitted one off these or should i just fit a new dmf and new clutch and not to forget a new release bearing {corrected year from a previous post of yours found via a forum search}
