Review: De'Longhi La Specialista pump espresso (productReview)
What is it? This is the La Specialista from De’Longhi, a semi-automatic coffee maker that blends traditional pump expresso quality with the features and convenience of a bean-to-cup machine. Wrapped in stainless steel, this two-cup machine has a built-in burr bean grinder, tamping station, pre-programmed recipes and a semi-automatic milk heater/frother. -
Review: Melitta CI Touch coffee machine (productReview)
What is it? The Melitta CI Touch is a fully automatic bean to cup coffee machine that provides up to 10 pre-programmed drinks at the touch of a button. Designed for coffee lovers who don't want to get their hands dirty, this two-cup machine automatically pre-heat cups, froths milk and produces authentic coffee shop drinks at the touch of a button. -
Review: Mio MiVue 658 WiFi dash camera (productReview)
The 2.7-inch screen is bright and easy to read, while the car mount fits without hassle. The camera automatically activates when you switch on the vehicle's ignition and records all aspects of your journey onto an SD card. It then automatically overwrites the data when the card is full, but it can save clips permanently when prompted by either you or the inbuilt G-sensor. -
Review: Ring RAC 610 analogue air compressor (productReview)
width=500&height=333.33333333333337" alt="" data-udi="umb://media/8b97b2fb9b4048b99d1be1a796b554e3" /> The RAC 610 doesn’t do anything particularly fancy - it goes without the torch and flashing light of the 635, as well as the automatic cut off. It’s a small, lightweight device with an air hose that wraps up neatly and a wire to plug into your car’s 12v power outlet. Does it work? -
Review: Tile Slim (productReview)
The Slim has the same 30 metre Bluetooth range as the Mate - the more advanced Tile Sport and Style have a range of 60 metres. Beyond this range, the app will automatically record the last time and place it saw the unit, giving you a good idea of where to look first. Once it's picked it up on Bluetooth, you can 'ring' your Tile from your phone to track it down. -
Review: Roadhawk HD-2 dash camera (productReview)
Like most dash cameras, the HD-2 starts up when the ignition is turned on and records automatically, though since there is no screen it has an audio message and LED to let the driver know it has started up, and another when it finds GPS reception. Aside from that, you can forget about it and get on with driving – the only other thing to think about is the E button for saving interesting or important clips. -
Review: Nuna Leaf Grow (productReview)
We really like how it looks although we do find ourselves repeatedly stubbing our toes on it, but that could be the lack of sleep that comes with a six month old... We think it's important to point out that the Nuna Leaf Grow isn't automatic. It doesn't have power and doesn't automatically swing or vibrate like some baby bouncers. Instead you simply swing it with your hand. The swinging motion is lovely and smooth but you'll have to keep pushing it every couple of minutes to keep it going. -
Review: Piaggio MP3 500 Sport (productReview)
It’s also best not to set off with the front wheels locked vertical until you get used to the way this automatically releases. Soon, though, you’ll find yourself balancing the bike as you slow to a standstill at the lights and won’t always need to put your foot down. It’s not a dirty business either. Obviously you’re open to the elements, but you can get mittens to cover the handgrips and even a sort of tent contraption to keep your legs warm and dry. -
Review: Ring RAC 635 digital air compressor (productReview)
The RAC 635 is one of a series of air compressors from Ring. It boasts a digital readout for choosing a preset air pressure, plus an automatic cut-off that stops when the desired pressure is reached. It connects to a 12v accessory socket and can inflate a flat tyre to 35psi in around three minutes. What's it like? The unit is small enough to keep inside the car and comes with the 12v connector, wiring and air hose neatly tucked away inside – then it all packs neatly into a storage case. -
Review: RAC 225 S Super HD Dash Cam (productReview)
Left to its own devices, the 225 begins recording when you start your car. Videos of events will be saved and protected automatically, if the G sensor is triggered, or you can press a lock button to protect the current recording if it’s of interest. The audible and visual speed camera warning is also useful and could save you some grief. -
Review: Ring RBGDC50 (productReview)
It also packs a host of recording features, simplifying its use. It has motion detection and a G sensor for automatic footage capture, for starters, plus will also switch on and off automatically with the car’s ignition. It will loop footage, too, if you want it to – meaning it will simply keep overwriting recorded footage until an incident triggers a file save event. -
Review: Nextbase Duo dash cam (productReview)
Pressing this prevents the camera from looping over the last recorded clip, so if there is an accident, or if something interesting happens on the road, you can watch the footage back later without it being automatically deleted. Should I buy one? -
Review: Garmin VIRB 360 (productReview)
The camera records two different videos, one from each lens (offering a resolution of up to 5.7K @ 30fps depending), and automatically stitches the overlapping clips together if you select to record in any resolution up to 4K — which is high enough quality for most purposes. Up to 4k @ 30fps the video is automatically stitched and ready to be uploaded straight onto a 360-compatible platform — like YouTube or Facebook. -
Review: Philips VoiceTracer DVT2710 (productReview)
Compare the recordings above: We also sent the two Philips recordings above to the SpeechLive automatic speech recognition service (not compatible with the Safari web browser - Philips evidently has no time for Apple). They came back as follows, both of them exactly the same: "When strangers to love you know the rules and so do I full commitment is what I'm thinking of you and get this from any other guy." -
Review: Toro 56 cm PoweReverse ADS SmartStow lawnmower (productReview)
It also has a two year 'full coverage' warranty which covers the cost of parts and labour. What's not so good is the AutoMatic Drive System and PoweReverse which we found hampered its manoeuvrability. In this respect, a standard self-propelled mower is still better in our opinion. On the plus side, it gives a neat finish, the grass bag is huge and the washout port means it's easy to keep clean. -
Review: Garmin Dash Cam Mini (productReview)
The adhesive mount is strong and works well but it's not ideal if you want to regularly use this in different vehicles. The Mini has a parking mode which will automatically begin recording if it detects motion but this requires the dash cam to be hardwired. In the box, you get the camera, instructions and two USB cables - one 1.5 metres and the other 4 metres long. -
Review: Melitta Purista Series 300 (productReview)
What is it? The Purita is one of the slimmest, fully automatic bean-to-cup coffee machines on the market, ideal for those whose space is a premium in their kitchen. It offers a 'favourite coffee feature' to save your preferred coffee strength and amount, as well as a 'whisper quiet' steel cone grinder with five grinder settings. -
Review: Vantrue OnDash N1 Pro dash cam (productReview)
Other features include a 24-hour parking mode, although you need to hardwire it to the car battery for this to work, collision detection when turned off, a G-sensor which will automatically save and lock any footage following a collision or any sudden movements, such as swerving or hard braking. Interestingly it also has a time-lapse function, where the camera will automatically take photos at specified intervals and edit them together into a video clip, like the Garmin 55 dash cam we reviewed. -
Review: Flymo 1200R robot lawn mower (productReview)
Then it’s just a case of connecting the wire to the base station (where the mower automatically comes back to charge its 18V/1.6Ah lithium-ion battery), letting it charge for an hour or so and setting the initial cutting height using the twist-dial on top. Cutting heights are between 20 and 50mm. -
Review: Mio MiVue 792 Wifi Pro (productReview)
Should you come across any major incidents, the in-built GPS system should automatically protect your footage. If you want to make sure, then there is the standard ‘Event button’ that makes sure your recording doesn’t get wiped over before you get a chance to download it. This is bright red and set to the right of the screen, but is small and set flush with the surround, making it hard to press in a hurry should you need to.
