  • Nissan Serena - Problems with diesel fuel system 11 Feb 2014 (Forum)
I now believe that although the vehicle was in good order until it broke down when, attempting to re start after fitting the replacement head failed miserably. It was wanting to go but was clearly not getting fuel. Help was sought and eventually after much checking of fuses, supply, and imobilser etc, fuel was eventually delivered to the injectors and the engine now starts and runs well. But alas the spill line is being pressurised fron the pump body connection.
  • 2003 Focus 1.8 TDCI - FRP Sensor change 21 Oct 2011 (Forum)
P190 - Fuel rail pressure out of expected range - Ford changed the Fuel metering valve, only difference was me £300 light. Voltage test at Fuel Rail Pressure sensor showed 5V supply, but 4.63V at the output signal, I thought this was meant to be around 1.5V at cranking before the PCM would allow the injectors to fire as to prevent damage occuring.
  • Kia Rio 1.5 Diesel - Is this a fuel leak?? (Kia Rio) 29 Aug 2010 (Forum)
Could the earlier low mpg be to do with the fact that the car has never probably been driven, if it has only ever pootled to the shops and back?  On Fri night I filled it to the brim, I put so much in I could see the fuel at the top of fuel pipe.  I then drove home and parked it on my drive, which it at a slight angle so that the front of the car is higher than the rear. On Sat it had leaked fuel onto the drive, it looked like it came from a pipe near the rear axel, a pipe covered with this foam sleeve.
  • Peugeot 406 (1999 - 2004) - 03 2.0hdi 90 go slow and surging 6 Apr 2010 (Forum)
When I got back it drove ok until I gassed it up a hill and the same happened.I managed to drive it sympathetically without any trouble but now it's got worse and even show it a hill and it surges and goes into limp. I've had the codes read and got four: P 1351 post heating circuit P 1198 Fuel pressure regulator P 1113 Fuel pressure regulator P 0704 Clutch switch I went to a breakers to get a fuel pressure regulator and he gave me a screw in switch type thing which screws into the fuel rail.
  • Citroen Xantia (1993 - 2000) - 00 2.0 HDi Fuel Problems 6 Apr 2009 (Forum)
Reading forums there seem to be endless possibilities as to what problem might be. History: Fuel guage sender was faulty, so replaced low pressure pump, new unit, soon after purchase. We don't believe the LP Pump had degraded prior to replacement. The previous owner had crankshaft pulley replaced within last few k's.
  • Ford Focus (1998 - 2004) - Possible fuel pump issues on 2004 TDCi & 2000 TDi 6 Jul 2008 (Forum)
The TDi one has had everything rebuilt or replaced ( head, turbo, injectors etc ) everything except the fuel pump. The other one I'm not sure about. They have both been diagnosed by Ford as having fuel pump issues. As far as I know they both have similar symptoms: They suddenly lose power andor cut out and sometimes start again after being switched off and sometimes they don't.
  • Toyota Previa (1990 - 2000) - 1996 2.2 (Emina 3C-TE) - Won't start when hot. 5 Jun 2008 (Forum)
My father priced one in New Zealand, where he lives and he was told that it will cost 11thousand dollars for a new electronic fuel pump. Yes 11thousand! Apparently it will have to come from Japan or something. I am wondering though, if it was the fuel pump wouldnt it be playing up all the time? not just when it was hot? Any other suggestions?
  • Mk3 Golf GTi fuel/stalling problems 28 Mar 2007 (Forum)
Left the forecourt travelled up the road to work got less than a mile casually gazed across the dashboard, and noticed the fuel gauge rapidly decreasing. Naturally i pulled over at the next safest place. Looked around for a fuel leak none everything was fine, so i carried onto work. Later in the day went out in the car had done approx 30miles and the fuel gauge is now showing 3/4 tank which was about right, thought no more it was now fixed.
  • Smokey Ford Escort 1.8TD 9 Nov 2004 (Forum)
Is there a fuel pump issue here? maybe injectors have faulty pressure springs inside them? or maybe the fuel return system is not working correctly? Shouldnt this unwanted/unused fuel be returned somehow instead of being chucked out the exhaust?
  • fuel tank replacement - legal position? 23 Aug 2002 (Forum)
When I came back out, petrol was literally pouring into the street - although it hadn't been doing so when I parked up only about 1/2 hour before. I called the AA, and the guy said it might be a valve or seal broken. The fuel stopped leaking after about a quarter of the tank had emptied. Since then I have not filled it above half full, and there have been no leaks. I called Renault to get this fixed. After finding the local Renault dealer, they mentioned something about compensation if the fuel tank had to be replaced.
  • Future Fuel Prices and Iraq 11 Mar 2002 (Forum)
What is missing from all this pathetic posturing by both leaders is any mention of the effect that any renewal of military action in the middle east might have on world fuel prices. I imagine that the opportunity to raise fuel prices on the hypothesis that action in the middle east is even being talked about has not escaped the attention of the major oil companies. Nor would it have escaped our Chancellor of the Exchequer that such action could provide a cast iron excuse to raise the level of fuel duties.
  • Why is my fuel mixture getting weaker? 19 Feb 2002 (Forum)
I have a 1991 pre-cat Toyota Carina 2.0 GLi Exec Auto with the 3SFE (Fuel injection) engine and 103,000 miles. I have had various intermittent cold starting and cold running problems which the family owned garage I normally use couldn't get to the bottom of and so I took it to my local main dealer for a diagnostic.
  • Jaguar XF 2009 - Restricted Performance warning persisting 28 Sep 2024 (Forum)
I’m looking for a bit of help and advice with my diesel car I recently purchased. The low fuel warning came on with 50 miles left and then the Restricted Performance notice so I drove home and to the garage by which time it had 35 miles of fuel. i expected the RP to go away after filling up thinking it was fuel related, but it has persisted unless I am heavy on the accelerator, when it does go away.
  • Audi 100 1989 - Why older cars have big fuel tank than the new? 17 Nov 2023 (Forum)
Now I see most modern cars have very limited fuel tanks than what I see back in the 1990s. My car is a Toyota Argyo 1.0 vtti 2017 it has 35 litres with a range under 280 miles is pathiec. Is that something to do with emissions to reduce the weight of the cars to downsize the tank?
  • Hmmmm 26 Jun 2023 (Forum)
It more than covers itself on fuel and tax savings alone and that’s without me factoring in the money I’d get from flogging my current car, as I’ll probably spend what it gives me on something a bit retro to play with. I do go hill walking and use the car occasionally to transport my mountain bike but these are rare occasions and I usually go in the someone else’s car and chip in for fuel.

  • Ford Focus 1.6 2007. - Occasional whiff of petrol outside car 27 Oct 2016 (Forum)
However, I'm sufficiently concerned to be thinking about taking the car to a garage to have the fuel pipework checked. Am I worrying unnecessarily? I often do that, but with this being petrol....
  • 2011 SEAT ALTEA XL SE CR TDI ESTATE - Seat Altea XL fuel pump needs replacing at 27K 13 Jun 2015 (Forum)
I took the car in for a service as I had done just shy of 10K miles, its now on appx 27K. I was quite shocked to find out that the diesel fuel pump needs to be replaced at a cost of appx £1200, with the part costing £722. I looked up the part and it is very expensive. http://www.commonraildiesels.com/product_info.php/seat-alteaxl-tdi-new-bosch-diesel-fuel-pump-0445010507-p-1543 My question is can I go back to the delear to contact the manufacturer of the component part  because surely this should not fault at such a low mileage.
  • ANY - How much on list price for an extra real 5mpg? 1 Oct 2014 (Forum)
Would you like your next car to be greener, more fuel efficient and less costly to run, if so how much extra would you be prepared to pay for an optional extra that promised to offer you a 'real world' increase of say 4.5 to 5 mpg (an increase of approx 1 mile per litre) in your week to week fuel economy?
  • Small economical hatchback 26 Mar 2014 (Forum)
The main reason for selling it is because she does 50 miles daily. It's reached 100k now and is terrible on fuel. We want to reduce fuel costs but not necessarily a diesel... Her budget is around £3,000. We are a two car family. I have a larger car (Mazda 3 2.0 petrol) which we use for the long hauls.
